About Us

The purpose of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Historical Museum and Research Centeris to educate the community concerning the roles, functions, and contributions of the organization; provide means for the law enforcement agency and the community to foster better relations through positive interaction; and promote an understanding of police work that will increase the general public's awareness of this work, support departmental recruitment efforts, and strengthen pride in law enforcement activities and accomplishments.

We are recognized and approved by the Texas Department of Public Safety.  Our Board of Directors consists of retired Directors of the Department, as well as active and retired DPS personnel. We are all volunteers and no one receives a salary.

The Museum is an IRS certified non-profit 501(c)3 organization and a member of the Austin Better Business Bureau.   All contributions will be gratefully accepted and will qualify for a tax deduction to the extent allowed by law.  NO TELEPHONE SOLICITATIONS WILL EVER BE MADE AND 100 PERCENT OF ALL FUNDS RECEIVED ARE USED FOR THE DIRECT SUPPORT OF THE TEXAS HISTORICAL MUSEUM AND RESEARCH CENTER.
